It started with a conversation between me, Shade Balderose, and Jami Morgan from the band Code Orange. The idea was simple but intense: a fully immersive, sweat-drenched, industrial-goth-techno-freakshow. We called it BLOODRAVE.
(Unfortunately, no — they wouldn’t let us spray blood all over everyone. Plus, AppleCare doesn’t cover blood-damaged laptops.)
My job was to help build a world that felt like it was alive and responding to the music. Using MadMapper, custom shaders, and audio-reactive lighting, I designed a system of synced projections and lights that pulsed with the energy of the room. It was somewhere between a goth ritual and a warehouse hallucination, all built on fog and pounding beats.
(And no, they wouldn’t let us spray actual blood on everyone. My laptop’s warranty doesn’t cover that.)
The first BLOODRAVE at Spirit Lodge was packed and electric. The crowd didn’t just dance; they fully committed, turning the space into something else entirely. Now, BLOODRAVE Part II is coming to the bigger Spirit Hall for even more people, more lights, and more glorious weirdness.
Building the Visual World
My role in BLOODRAVE wasn’t about creating stage visuals — it was about helping build a space that felt like it responded to the music. Using MadMapper, custom ISF shaders, and audio-reactive lighting, I designed a system that would move with the energy in the room.
Get your tickets for Part II now! It’s happening Friday, April 18, 2025. (Sold out)
Bloodrave and Beyond
2025 is going to be a pretty wild ride for the Bloodrave crew. They’re booking shows all across the country, and we have a few surprises in store for various locations. Unfortunately, due to my schedule, I won’t be able to run lights and video for every Bloodrave, but the next few I have lined up is July 4th, at Spirit (for Bloodrave III), October in NYC, Halloween at Spirit, a few more tour dates TBD.
A huge thank you to the whole team for trusting me to help build this chaos, and to the crowd for bringing the energy.
